Developing the theme discussed through the dissertation session further - and exploring ways of illustrating the existence of dystopia within utopia, using photoshop I have created the following output:
I have allowed more space on the image to show the idea of a utopia with the dystopia below; trying to illustrate that even though the utopic setting is something we can strive for, a utopia cannot exist without dystopian attributes.
Originally, I focused on the existence of utopia and dystopia as a way to inform methods of resolving real life issues in present day, such as the climate crisis. My initial way of thinking was if we could achieve a utopia, would resolving the climate crisis come hand in hand? Since developing my other images and ideas further I have allowed my theme to evolve alongside, and I will therefore continue to update these images to accurately reflect the intentions of my theme as I continue through my design thesis.
