External Steel Structure Experiements

Due to the abundance of vertical elements within the building proposal, I had already decided that columns on the external to support the timber roof structure would be lost within the appearance of the internal layout.


Option 01: Angled columns to include an additional axis to the design.




Option 02: V-Shaped Brackets spanning between 2 beams:



Personally I preferred option 2 however I also liked the element the steel leaning away from the glazing in option 1 - so option 3 was developed:




Development of option 3 - allowing the timber beams to overhang the structure more, titled brackets result is a lesser chance of headroom issues under the covered walkway between the structure and glazing:
