As we progress through the DDW I realise that I must be someone who believes that form follows function - as I have struggled to create shapes and design with no narrative or context in mind. It's saddening in a way - I remember doodling for hours as a child but now I can't seem to put pen to paper without a clear goal in mind, but I'll blame it on lockdown brain.
With the inability of having 24 hour access to the Barbara Hepworth Building due to Covid19, the majority of our work is to be produced at home - and my little laptop is struggling. I have found that I will need to find alternative ways to produce the results I want, some actions on Rhino are just a bit too adventurous for a Macbook, but in this instance if I export my models as a DWG and importing into Vectorworks rather than 'make 2D' in rhino, I can still work on my drawings in the way I would like.
I have been looking into Brian Cantley and Perry Kulper drawing styles - recommended by my tutor Hyun, I really like the look of the 2D images but I've found that I am still struggling to come up with ideas of my own when there seems to be a lack of narrative.
