Feeling that the original design of the ITT was unresolved, I have developed/changed the plans and model further after using the Macallan Distillery, designed by Richard Rodgers.
As I was planning on using an intensive green roof, and attempting to create an "earthy" aesthetic for the building - I felt especially inspired by the roof structure and use of glu-lam timber for the structure.
With this in mind, I have restructured the floor plan with a structural grid system in mind for the timber and steel beams, retaining the perimeter wall to incorporate into the structure of the roof canopy.
Revision of the ground floor plan with structural grid indicated. Columns will not be required at all the intersections due to the structural spans of glu-lam timber.
New form for the roof structure created, view towards the entrance of the ITT.
Existing perimeter wall will be incorporated into the structure of the roof canopy.
