Beginning the massing model in Rhino, my laptop struggled with the software so I decided it was best to screen shot the view as it was frozen as a way to discuss my work with the tutors. (See below, the proposed district 'slipped' and is not positioned correctly on the site model).
Looking again at the 'geo architecture' of the Park Royal Hotel, I imagine the pre-cast concrete to be inverted, suggesting the building rising out of the ground much like contour lines on a 2D map would suggest - therefore resulting in the very rough form I had created in the image above. Keeping in line with the theme of bio-diversity and the transformation of anthropocentric humans to ecocentric - I want the building to create the impression of 'Returning to Earth'. Additionally - in regards to remediation, another continuing theme throughout my university work, the building needs to create more energy and habitats for the environment than the original development takes away.
The location of the building is to be in the north east of the site, which is exposed to sun light consistently through the day and year - meaning new technologies such as algae farms and photovoltaics can be installed onto the accessible vegetative green roof structure, re-affirming the commitment to create more energy than the building itself takes from the environment.
